We can always continue and she can join in when we get to fighting (we stop before they actual games begin for obvious reasons) since the first bits are fairly pointless? No offence hunger games or nothing....

we could skip to either them saying their goodbyes, or them on the train. Probably the train, since anna-chan and i have no charries left for them to say goodbye to. anna-chan could skip out the reapings and bits of being on the train if she wants. i could write long and painful het scenes << that was a joke.

Hyper-fast reaping writing time....one moment...

Maishana din't even cast a sideways glance at the boy who had been reaped with her. Even if the careers were going to form an alliance, showing empathy with any of the other tributes was likely to get you picked off pretty quickly once in the arena. Of course, all the tributes would be watching the reapings, weighing up their competition. She wasn't going to give anything away here.

Serrin stumbled in an ungainly fashion as he walked up to the stage, his mouth dry and hands shaking uncontrollably. His name had only been in a handful of times - he wasn't going to risk his neck, even if it meant the family having less food than the kids who signed up for terasse some ridiculous number of times. So how had he been picked? He looked at the crowd. Surely someone would volunteer...wouldn't they?


NCP sighed dolefully as his name was called. True, his name had been put in so many times that he couldn't remember the exact number, but he had been hoping by some fluke that it wouldn't be him. Well, it was, and there was naught he could do about it. He walked unhurriedly to the staging, knowing that no-one would volunteer for him. The foolish girl who had been reaped with him was still sobbing loudly, not even bothering to raise herself from the slumped heap on the floor she had collasped into upon walking onto the staging. She would die quickly.

Thaema jumped as her name was called, but quickly smothered her startled expression with an angry glare as she stalked up to the staging. Make a show of being angry, and the rest of the tributes might assume she was vicious, and dangerous.

Juan squeaked as his name was called. He knew nothing of killing people, or even survial skills. He was going to die. He was going to die. The words ran round his head as he joined the small but ferocious-looking girl on stage. He offered her a nervous smile (he could keep formalaties, at least) but it was returned with such a hostile look that he took an involuntary step backwards...and tripped over the edge of the staging, depositing himself in a sprawling head on the ground in a mess of lighting cables and equipment.

Luim glanced at the girl who had been reaped with him. Perhaps they could form an alliance...?

Kai felt her stomach sink and her brain turn to mush as her name was picked. How they'd managed to pick her name from the ball was a mystery to her, it hadn't been in that many times. THe silence was oppressive as she stepped forwards towards the staging. She looked over over heads of the crowd - it wasn't dificult, district 12 was small in population - to ovoid seeing anyone she knew. She didn't know the boy that got reaped with her, probably a good thing. It wouldn't matter quite so much it one saw the other dying. One of the carreers would win it anyway.

Cas lay on the floor of her room in the train, doing sit ups. A knock at her door came, and her mentor, a young, mean-looking woman who had won just four years before came into the room. She looked at Cas and shook her head briskly. "No, no exercises now," she said. "Keep up your strength. Come have something to eat." Cas sat up and pouted at her mentor in a friendly way. "But then I would have to converse with pretty-boy and the capitol guy," she complained. Her mentor gave a thin, understanding smile. "Eat," she ordered, and Cas got unhappily up and followed her to the dining room.
Wings and Catalyst sat opposite each other, eating in silence. Next to each of them sat their mentors, both as large, muscled and tough-looking as each other. The mentors conversed in loud, hearty voices, but Wings only observed the girl he was going to have to kill, wondering why the academy had recommended she volunteer. She wasn't even 18!! Perhaps they were placing all their money on him, and just picked someone easy to kill off as their other tribute. She never once looked at him, her masculine face gazing blankly into the middle distance.
Max took a deep breath and walked into the dining room, flashing a quick smile at his mentor. As he sat down, the girl tribute - Iris - walked in with her mentor, a woman of about 35, looking a little flushed and dishevelled. Perhaps they had been doing some last minute training. Then he was distracted by the vast array of food - far nicer than the boring same-old same-old that they got in district 5.
Angel turned his pot of hair gel over in his hands as he finished doing his hair, wondering again whether it had been the right choice to take it as his token. Placing it down on his bed, he smoothed his shirt down and went to try and ignore - difficult, being the friendly person he was - the sweet little girl who had come with him. It was best not to get to know her: someone like her was bound to die in the first couple of days. Angel didn't rate his own chances of survival too highly, but at least he knew how to fight, and at least he would get to see all the latest capitol fashions first.

Yuiko smiled happily at her already-exasperated 56yo mentor, who had already given up on explaining to Yuiko the concept of killing people. Yuiko didn't like her enclosed bedroom - in district 11, as housing cost too much for her, she happily slept in the open - but she did like, as she now proclaimed, the food. Her mentor shared a glance at the other mentor, and her knowledge that this was a hopeless case was reflected in his eyes. His mentee, Dez, was yet to arrive, but perhaps they could place some more hope on him to win this year.

Kazuki glowered at the drunk guy sitting at the table with him. It wasn't fair: Effie wouldn't let him drink. He had pointed out to her that he might as well enjoy his last few days on the planet, at which she had tutted and told him not to be so pessimistic, then frowned at his table manners and turned back to the girl- whose name he hadn't bothered to learn - and who she obviously already preferred.

Maishana didn't try to hide her disappointment as she stepped across the gap from the platform to the train. She'd seen many of these passing through before, but never actually been inside one. It was pristine, but obviously not as fancy as she would have expected from capitol technology. She settled herself with sitting in front of the television to watch the rest of the reapings, not even talking to the mentors (she already knew enough about the games and the arena, thank you) or her district partner (how was that going to help?).

Serrin couldn't stop himself from gaping constantly at the train. He was too busy gawping and stuffing his face with food to pay any attention to the mentor, who'd clearly given him up as a bad case already, or his district partner. Perhaps all this luxury was worth the fact that he was going to die soon....but there again, maybe not.

NCP was feeling quite proud of himself. He'd convinced his mentor to talk to him about strategies. So that was one person he'd persuaded to believe that he was a better contender for the games than he actually was. He was learning - he had a good knack at picking things up quickly and remembering them, and intended to keep the mentor talking all the way to the capitol if need be. He wouldn't win, but he wouldn't be the first to die. The foolish girl - Benia, he thought her name was, was leaping round the train like an excited child, admiring the novelties. Much as he had been awed by the setting, he'd forced himself to get over that quickly. It was not the time for staring. He had precious time before going into the arena, and he wasn't going to waste it like the idiot Benia.

Thaema refused to let her irate facade down, and proceeded to watch the reapings without saying a word to anyone, sitting tersely on the edge of the plush sofa, denying the temptation to languish across it. She wasn't going to let the other boy - Juan, she knew now, think the she would make an alliance. After his performance at the reaping, she could clearly see he was incompetent.
Juan had been staring at the interior of the train, wondering how Thaema wasn't showing more appreciation of the compartment. Had she seen such things before? Surely not. She had gone over to watch the reapings, and looked as grumpy as before, but they were district partners, who often formed alliances. Tip-toeing over to the sofa, which was easily big enough for three. He lowered himself tentatively onto the far side of the sofa, looking sideways at the girl, who didn't even glance at his arrival. Feeling a little hurt, he turned his attention to the screen, blushing furiously when his reaping was shown, and his performance demonstrated to the whole of Panem.

Luim hopped nervously round the compartment. He hadn't seen his district partner anywhere, and the chances of asking for an alliance seemed to be dwindling as he talked his mentors, resorting to begging them for help. He relied of somebody to take care of him, and so someone should be doing that during the game. They had to.

Kai sat quietly at the table. To say she was consolidating her thoughts wouldn't be truthful, she was letting them run riot, really. But not so riot that she was hyperventilating. The mentor wasn't going to of any use, she saw, so she would have to make do with the few skills she had. Which would be nothing against the careers.
